March 3, 2010 Press Release, Campaign Announcement
Christopher Nogy for U.S. Senate
Christopher Nogy, a 45-year-old technology professional living in Lowell, Arkansas, has entered the race for the United States Senate seat currently held by Blanche Lincoln, Democrat. Mr. Nogy is running as an Independent.
“I have never had any plans or dreams to hold public office. I have been until the last few years ago content to sit around with friends and a beer and debate politics, and to lend my hand to campaigns mostly based on issues such as property rights. But during the last Presidential election, I became heavily involved in the Ron Paul campaign, and began to pay more attention to what was being done by the Federal Government, most notably the Congress.”
“As a husband and a father of three young children, I began to understand that if I wasn’t willing to stand up and make a sacrifice, to do something that I really didn’t have any desire to do, to secure the future of my family, who would? And if not now, when?”
“Most of the other candidates will tell you what they plan to deliver to you from Congress, be it jobs, money, progressive or conservative change to the country. I have no plans to deliver anything to the people of Arkansas from Congress, except the liberty to attain those things that are important to them. I am a staunch believer in the Constitution, that it is quite remarkable in that it can be both powerful and vibrant, and static and unchanging, at the same time. The message of a government that is restricted from encroaching on the basic rights of the citizens is powerful and resonates as strongly with people today as it did when it was signed. I believe the Constitution was written clearly, in English, and in only rare circumstances must it be interpreted beyond it’s literal meaning. It is that literal meaning, not some moderate to liberal interpretation, that I promise to use to guide each and every decision I make as a legislator.”
“There needs to be an infusion of sanity in the workings of the Federal Government. That sanity can only come from outside – exposure to a long-running environment of nearly unchecked political gamesmanship and unrealistic expectations has made change of the incumbents very unlikely.”
“I am running for one term and one term only. I realize the temptation of a political career, and will file a contract with the state guaranteeing that promise on the day my name is approved to be placed on the general election ballot. When a Federal official realizes that he has to return to work in the world he is influencing, I believe he will make better decisions. I cannot promise to fix the nations problems, but without a start moving in another direction, the nation’s problems won’t be fixed. I can provide that start – the most powerful legislative seat in the nation is the seat of a United States Senator. From that seat I know I will be able to exert the most influence I can, and that holding that seat with Constitutionally inspired integrity and sanity can and will start the process of restoration of the people’s faith and their hope.”
Mr. Nogy is a Constitutional conservative, an avid supporter of Second Amendment rights, and is strongly pro-life. He believes in freedom of religious practice without punishment or infringement. He believes in extremely limited Federal Government and that the prosperity of the country is directly linked to the prosperity of the private sector. He believes that modifying the scope and behavior of the Federal Government, not raising more revenue and making lip-service to cutting spending, is the only way to bring some sanity to the current national financial crisis. And he believes that the people can only be expected to abide by the laws of a government that abides by it’s own governing laws.
The campaign must provide 10,000 signatures of registered Arkansas voters to the Secretary of State by May 1, 2010 at 12:00 noon to gain a spot on the general election ballot for Mr. Nogy. It will be a historic first when those signatures are presented and verified, the first time in Arkansas history that a federal candidate will gain a ballot spot by public petition.
